About Our Residence Life Staff
Resident Assistants
Your Resident Assistant works in co-operation with the house members to create an atmosphere of responsibility, consideration and respect. These are the people who can unlock the door for you when you have locked yourself out, listen to you if you need to talk and will point you in the right direction if you have any questions about the University. RAs also provide you with valuable and fun programs to give you a balanced experience while here at university.
You may call upon your Resident Assistant to address confidential, personal, social, medical, financial or academic concerns. They are extremely knowledgeable and enjoy helping, so do not hesitate to go to them if you have any problems.
House Presidents
Every House President (HP) is elected at the end of the previous year to represent the House or Phase for the following year. The HP is responsible for organizing and running house events and keeping you informed of events and activities that are taking place throughout the year. Your HP will organize house events at various locations around town, house dinners, bonfires, movie nights, and much more. If you have an event idea, your HP will try to make it happen. Your HP also holds a seat on the Residence Council and upholds the house members best interests. Each House President also chairs a committee within the council. The HPs work really hard to ensure your year in Residence is the best and that you become part of the residence community. Feel free to give them suggestions on events that you would like to see, or even better, join a committee and get involved!
Coordinators
There are three coordinators that are involved in residence life: Sports Coordinator, Wellness Coordinator and Yearbook Coordinator. Each Coordinator heads up their committee with the assistance of the Council representative and members from each house. The Sports Coordinator is in charge of Residence sports as well as planning different sporting events such as Super Saturday. The Wellness Coordinator plans multiple events during the year to help make you aware of safe sex practices, responsible drinking, and living a healthy life. Our Yearbook Coordinator works really hard all year to collect photos in order to put out our annual yearbook at the end of the year.
Residence Programmer
The Residence Programmer is a full-time employee of the University and resides on campus. This individual acts as the Chair for Residence Council, and head up the HP team and gives them any support they need. The Programmer also oversees numerous committees and directs them as necessary. The Residence Programmer is responsible for the coordination of Orientation Week, social activities, Residence Sports, community trips, Residence Formal, Fall Fest, Spring Fest, and winter carnival to name a few. They are the liaison between Residence Council and Residence Administration, as well represent Residence on various University Committees.
The Residence Programmer works really hard with the House Presidents, Resident Assistants and the Residence Life Coordinator to make your year the best that it can be. Feel free to contact the Residence Programmer with any suggestions. The Residence Calendar of Events is posted on the Residence Website with an all-encompassing list of things to do.
