Residence Council and Committees
Residence Council
Residence Council consists of a representative from each House and Townhouse, along with the Residence Programmer who acts as the Chair. Council was created under the spirit of Residential Tenancies Act and they advise and assist the University on issues concerning residence life such as Residence policies, rules and student activities. Each member is responsible for one of the committees that you can be involved in. Council also holds residence events such as, Semi-Formals, Airbands, Price is Right and so much more! Residence students are welcome to observe most Residence Council meetings. See your House President if you wish to get involved, and you will have a blast doing it.
Residence Committees
Students are both welcome and encouraged to get involved in any of the following committees and groups. Get involved, have fun and meet people!

| Vice Presidents | There is one Vice President per house. They are the House President's right hand person, and also make up a committee within Residence. They assist with Residence events and as a group host their own events. If you are thinking about becoming part of Res Life in the future, you should join this committee. |
| Social Committee | The Social Committee plans events within residence that are meant to get houses interacting with each other. This committee plans and hosts many large events during the year. Some examples of past events are: movie marathons, Halloween events, Air Bands, and talent shows. If you like hosting events and having a blast, this committee is for you. |
| Sports Committee | The Sports Committee hosts all residence sports events. This committee with help from its members run, ref and score keep res sports, get their house pumped up for the games and assist is planning tournaments and Super Saturday. If you enjoy sports and having fun, perhaps this committee is for you. |
| Wellness Committee | The Wellness Committee makes sure everyone is having fun in residence, and at the same time being safe. They promote safer sex and responsible use of alcohol. The Wellness Committee hosts several events during the year including, Safer Sex Week, Alcohol Awareness Week, Stress Busters and more. If you like being involved and making a different in peoples lives see your House President to be part of this team (and it looks great on a resume!). |
| Outpost/Study Committee | This committee works with the manager of the campus pub and LUSU to help improve the service for students. Members of this committee will promote all-ages events occurring in the Outpost and The Study, and hosts a Res Night in the pub. |
| Planeteers | Concerned about environmental issues? This committee is for you. Our Planeteers will organize our roadside cleanup (Residence has adopted a stretch of Highway 11/17 east of Thunder Bay) and other events throughout the year. The purpose of this committee is to help make students more aware of their actions and how they are impacting the environment. If saving the planet is your thing, then join this committee. |
| Santa Claus Parade | Each year Residence enters a float into the Thunder Bay Santa Claus Parade. Members of this committee will help develop a theme, decorate the float and be in the parade. You will also help with the food collection for charity which occurs on the parade route. |
| Yearbook | The Yearbook Committee takes on the task of creating a yearbook for Residence Life each year. As a member of this team, you will collect and organize photos within your house, assist in fund raising events, and help assemble the yearbook. If you enjoy photography, this could be for you. |
| Food Committee | This committee is the liaison between Residence and Aramark, our food service provider. The purpose of this committee is to voice concerns and suggestions of the students to improve the food service on campus. |
| Residence Improvement | Residence Improvement Committee is a group of students that meets with Residence Administration and discusses ways to improve the facilities, increase safety and help create a better sense of community. |
| Disciplinary and Appeals | These Boards work directly with Residence Administration in handling disciplinary and appeals issues within residence. |
| Charity Committee | Residence does a tremendous amount of charity work throughout the year and this committee heads up all of the events. They are responsible for organizing and publicizing events such as: penny drives, food drives, clothing drives, Cuts for Cancer and any other that the group decides. |
| Media | The media committee is responsible for publishing the Residence Reporter. If you enjoy writing and want to boast about what your house is doing then this committee is for you. |
